A CARING group of young people from Malvern raised £207 for a charity that has opened a children’s wellbeing centre in Worcester.

The group of 13 young people took part in a sponsored 12-hour stay awake which had been organised by Engage4Life for the National Citizen’s Service to raise the funds for Mentor Link which opened its office in Crossroads Care Centre, in St Johns, in September.

Mentor Link is a local children’s charity providing weekly one-to-one social and emotional support to children and young people by providing them with a volunteer mentor or counsellor.

The mentors befriend and support young people with the aim of creating a more positive attitude towards themselves and their learning to help them build a positive future. The wellbeing of these young people forms the focus of the work. Formed in 2002 the charity now mentors around 450 young people each year across the region.

Founder and chief executive officer Andrea Maddocks said she thanked all the young people who took part. “These much needed funds which will help other children and young people in the Worcester and Malvern area," she said.
