ALL those who lost their lives serving with the Armed Forces will be remembered at a new festival in Malvern.

Chris Styles, the owner of Stylish Cards & Gift Co in St John's, Worcester, has organised for Malvern to have its own Festival of Remembrance to honour the fallen.

The new event is set to take place on Saturday, November 7 at Somer's Park Methodist Church at 7pm.

Mr Styles, aged 25, who lives in Malvern Link, said: "I wanted to bring my local community together in a festival of remembrance.

"The main inspiration for this came when I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend the festival of remembrance in London with the Boys Brigade.

"The feeling of remembrance when the poppies dropped in the Royal Albert Hall was just an amazing feeling. You could hear a pin drop. And to hear the veterans story's of how they got to where they did was just fantastic.

"I have organised several events and concerts for the Salvation Army but never a festival of remembrance or anything on this scale before.

"This year I teamed up with the Salvation Army to do this. The festival will be remembering all who have and are serving both past and present and I'm really hoping to raise as much money as possible for two amazing charities, the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes. We really hope the town will support us in this."

The festival will see performances by Malvern Salvation Army Band, soloist Aimee Littlewood, as well as dances, solo performances, sharing of memories, and the raising of standards from local uniformed youth and army associated organisations such as the Sea Cadets and the Army Cadets.

Mr Styles said he has received positive feedback about his festival.

"The response so far has been awesome. So many groups and organisations want to be involved and support it. If anyone else wants to get involved we would love to hear from them."

Tickets to the event cost £6 and can be bought by calling 01684 560066 or emailing leanne.wallis@salvationarmy.org.uk.
