POLICE investigating the death of a man whose body was found in Stourport believe a taxi driver may have vital information about what happened.

The body of Matthew Cullum was found in Hilary Road, Stourport, at 4am on Saturday, August 29 as previously reported in the Worcester News.

Police are appealing for the help of a taxi driver who made a drop off in the area just over an hour before Mr Cullum's body was found.

Paramedics attended but 36-year-old Mr Cullum, who worked as a data control operative in the Kidderminster area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Lee Baker said: "We continue to investigate Mr Cullum's death and are following several lines of enquiry.

"We would urgently like to speak to a taxi driver who we believe dropped a woman off at the Wilden Lane end of Hilary Road at around 2.50am on Saturday, August 29.

"The taxi driver is described as being a man with a South-East Asian appearance driving a silver London style taxi.

"The passenger was in her teens and was picked up from Green Street, Kidderminster, close to Anatoli Pizza. During the journey, she may have been speaking on her mobile phone and the fare for the journey was £8.05.

"The passenger says that after dropping her off it is possible that the taxi drove a short way up Hillary Road before turning around and returning to Wilden Lane. We believe that this driver may have seen something that could help with our enquiries."

The taxi driver or anyone else with information that may help with the enquiry are urged to call 101 and quote incident 112s of 29th August 2015. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org
