A CAR overturned on the M5 in Worcestershire, leaving a woman seriously injured.

The two-car collision took place at 12.24pm on Saturday (September 19) on the northbound carriageway between junctions six for Worcester North and five for Droitwich.

One female casualty, who suffered a head injury, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for emergency treatment.

No-one else was injured during the crash.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service sent two Worcester crews and one Droitwich crew to the scene, but all drivers and passengers involved had escaped from their vehicles prior to the firefighters' arrival.

No-one was trapped during the incident, which happened in lanes two and three.

Fire crews helped move the overturned car onto the hard shoulder and remove debris from the road.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and a paramedic officer to the crash.

A spokesman for the service said: “Crews arrived to find a car that had overturned after a two vehicle collision.

“The woman travelling in one car, believed to be in her 30s, suffered a head injury in the crash. She received emergency treatment at the scene by medics and her condition was stabilised.

“The woman was then transferred by ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further emergency treatment.

“No other person was injured in the crash.”
