VITAL services available to older people and their families, friends and carers will be showcased at Malvern Theatres on Thursday, October 1.

The event, organised by Malvern Hills District Council and Worcestershire County Council, will offer a wealth of knowledge, support and information to help local residents age well and live independently in their own homes for longer.

Guests will be offered free tea, coffee and cakes, and there will be free health checks for anyone aged 40 to 74.

Other activities during the event will include: a creative therapy workshop with painting, drawing and crafts; taster exercise classes at the nearby Malvern Splash, including free swimming for the over-75s; and a Dementia Friends Session, to raise awareness of how people living with dementia can be supported.

Cllr Rebecca Massey, portfolio holder for health and well-being at thE District Council said: “As part of our commitment to older people in the district, we are keen to raise their awareness and understanding of the great services on offer, and also give them a taster of some of the activities that they can get involved in.

“It’s going to be a fantastic event with more than 25 organisations exhibiting. We are really looking forward to it.”

The event takes place from 11am to 2pm.
