MALVERN Rotary Club is hoping to launch a new branch for young people who want to have fun and help other people at the same time.

The proposed new Rotaract Club will be launched with a meeting on Monday for all those who might be interested in joining up.

Andre Bartlett, the youth and community chairman for Malvern Rotary Club said “Once it is formed, the members of the club will decide on its activities and what causes it wishes to support.

"Rotaract is about having fun, whilst helping others. It’s about meeting new people, improving your skills and putting something back into the community at the same time.

"The community can be near home or you could support an international project. It gives you the opportunity to improve yourself and the lives of others.

"What sort of activities you want to organize or get involved with, is down to the members of the club. On the fun side, you might want to organize camping rallies, go-karting, pub visits, nights out, weekends away, paintballing, basically whatever you want to do, the list is endless.

"As far as supporting various causes is concerned, you may organize fundraising events such as It’s a Knockout competitions, concerts, fashion shows, car washes, again, you can do what you think will work in and around Malvern.

"In helping the community, you could get hands on decorating or gardening for people that need practical help. You could support a local hospice or charity in some way."

The first meeting is on Monday, September 14, at 7.30pm at the Cube, Albert Road North. All aged 18 to 30 are welcome, and to find out more, contact Mr Bartlett 07736 360063 or bartlett_andrew2@sky.com.

The purpose of Rotaract is to provide an opportunity for young men and women to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities, and to promote better relations between people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.
