IT was a real life case of One Foot In The Grave for one tortoise which was rescued from a Malvern house fire.
A spokeswoman for Worcestershire and Herefordshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the fire was accidental and had started due a to a fault with the vivarium's equipment.
She said: "The fire was accidental, caused by a fault with vivarium equipment, and was located on the ground floor of the two storey property.
"One tortoise was rescued into fresh air, from the smoke, by fire fighters."
Two fire fighters from Malvern attended the scene, in Court Road, on Sunday around 5pm and used a hose reel to extinguish the flames.
