STAFF from Freedom Leisure, which runs the Malvern Splash leisure pool, braved the shave on Friday and had their locks chopped off to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The hair-cutting challenge came about because two staff members at the Splash, centre manager Ian Bonsall and finance and administration manager Sheila Jones, have lost parents to cancer.

They were joined by colleagues Mike Willetts, the Splash Front of House Manager, and Rob Tyler, the centre manager of Tenbury Swimming Pool, which is also run by Freedom Leisure.

"It’s great to see our staff raising money for such a worthy cause, particularly as it means a great deal to our team members who have suffered a personal loss from this disease," says Freedom Leisure area manager David Pugh.

"I’m sure many of us know someone who has suffered from cancer and we hope by taking part in this event we have raised attention and funds to help those living with the disease."
