THERE were celebrations all round as Malvern's Civic Week reached its five year milestone, and also played host to a number of special guests.

It came to an end last Saturday but not before there were a host of competitions, musical performances, walks and tours of the town, visits to famous landmarks and sites- including Eastnor Castle- and guest speakers, all of which raised around £3,000 for a number of charities.

Roger Sutton, vice president of Malvern Civic Society which hosts the event, said: "We are very pleased with that result, and the fact it was another successful week.

"It is also a very good milestone celebrate too, as its now in its fifth year.

"There was a good turnout once again throughout the towns."

Malvern has been twinned with Czech town Marianske Lazne since 2012, and its mayor and his two deputies paid a visit during the event, along with the town's children's choir- called the Canzona Choir.

As well as attending various event in Malvern, Mayor Petr Tresnak and his deputies also visited the Three Counties Showground as they are hoping to create a showground of their own, back in Marianske Lazne.

They also visited the science park to see what role Malvern plays in the technological world.

Of their visit, Mr Sutton said their presence strengthens the growing relationship between the twinned towns.

The Canzona Choir, one of the musical disciplines within the prestigious Frederyk Chopin School of Music and Fine Arts, performed concerts not only in Malvern, but Ledbury, Twinning and Kington also.

On Wednesday, primary schools throughout Malvern joined the 30-strong Czech choir in bringing to life a production of Noah at Christ Church, in Avenue Road.

There were also guest speakers who took to the stage at Malvern Theatres, to deliver presentations and discussions on The First World War, the famous Eastnor Castle. and the Jaguar XE.

There was also the opportunity to visit Jaguar Land Rover, in Solihull.
