A Malvern artist who uses brio pens to create her masterpieces is exhibiting her work for the very first time in the local area.

Julia Neil's surreal and impressionistic artwork is on display through the exhibition, titled Designs of the Mind.

Ms Neil, who uses only house-hold pens to create her work, draws upon her own experiences but is challenging viewers to find their own meanings within her work.

Ms Neil, of Guarlford, said: "I really hope the exhibition is a success, and people resonate with my work in their own way.

"It's quite alternative, but there's a lot of truth in my work. It will be interesting to see how audiences from the Malvern area take to the pieces.

"I believe artwork is very individual, as everyone has their own interpretations of art."

Ms Neil has been creating pieces all her life, but says going through a divorce two years ago has inspired her to try harder than ever to etch out a career in the art world.

Her pieces are ordered from customers throughout the UK.

The exhibition got underway at The Fold, in Bransford, on July 4, and will run for six weeks.

It is free to visit.
