IT was cake all round at St Joseph’s Swans and Cygnets Pre-school in Malvern as children and staff celebrated their recent OFSTED report.

The pre-school, at St Joseph’s RC Primary School in Newtown Road, was rated as good in the report of its first inspection since 2009.

The inspector said that the children are happy, feel safe and secure, and make good progress in their learning and development."

The report also noted that “children who speak English as an additional language are supported extremely well."

It also said the pre-school could improve by enhancing its outdoor area and by organising group times better to support the younger children.

Manager Judi Gallichan said: "We are happy with the outcome of our inspection. We know that we do our best for all the children but it is good to have evidence of this."

Mary Taylor, chair of the managing committee, said: "Al three of my children have attended Swans and Cygnets and have thrived. he staff plan wonderful activities with just the right amount of guidance to help the children reach their potential.”
