GENEROUS blood donors in Worcestershire are being called on to help encourage others to sign the blood and organ donation register.
Worcestershire County Council and Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust are running a special training session for anyone who would like to volunteer to become blood and organ donation champions.
The three-hour session at County Hall will run from 10am until 1pm on Wednesday, July 3.
The council’s cabinet member for health and wellbeing Cllr Marcus Hart said: “We want to create a network of champions who will be fully trained and then be available to display leaflets and attend events such as youth groups, healthcare forums and community gatherings, to speak about donation and encourage people to sign up themselves.
"How much time they will be able to give depends on individual circumstances but every champion will be important in spreading the word and helping to save lives and I would hope they could mainly do this within their existing social networks.”
To book a place at the training session email donationchampion@worcestershire.gov.uk.
