KEEN gardeners of Leigh Sinton joined together to transform an overgrown jubilee garden.

Residents of Kiln Lane joined forces with parish councillors during a planting day to bring it to life with plants, fruit trees and shrubs.

The garden, which is a designated community space located in Kiln Lane, was created by Leigh and Bransford parish council last year, but progress has been slow in tidying it up.

Sarah Rouse, district councillor for Alfrick and Leigh, said: "Progress in putting plants in and getting it tidy was slow, so we organised a planting day.

"Together we have transformed an overgrown area into a lovely community space for locals, with fruit trees and shrubs.

"I also want to make sure all residents are aware that it is a community space and can be enjoyed by all.

"I would like to thank everyone who helped and worked so hard."

The parish council bought the plants for £350.

Cllr Rouse says the parish council is looking for people to maintain the garden.
