THESE pictures were taken by a member of the public 'disgusted' by the state of council-run toilets in Worcester.

The woman, who declined to be named, said she resented having to pay 20p to use the toilets in Angel Place when they were kept in what she believes is such a poor state.

However, a council spokesman said the toilets were cleaned at least four times a day but that sometimes people who used the facilities did put paper towels or toilet roll on the floor.

She said: "These council run toilets they are disgraceful, and they have the nerve to charge you to go in. These photographs were taken over the last couple of days in Angel Place but I understand the others are as bad. The council is too mean to employ an attendant."

She said last week almost every cubicle was in the same state although she said this morning they had been cleaned.

She added: "On Saturdays they're disgusting. Late in the afternoon a cleaner does come but they need to get an attendant."

A Worcester City Council spokesman said: “All our toilets are regularly inspected and cleaned at intervals throughout the day.

"Our phone number is prominently displayed in all the public toilets we operate so that members of the public can report any problems they encounter, and we will send a cleaner to that toilet as quickly as possible.

“Occasionally our cleaners will discover that paper towels or toilet paper have been pulled out onto the floor. They will always immediately clean it up.”
