SUPER Luca trebled his fundraising target after beating a string of health complications to take part in a fun run.

It was a colourful start to Luca Wooding's first ever charity challenge after doctors gave him the all clear to take part in Bristol Colour Vibe 5k raising £450 for New Hope.

The sporty 12-year-old had always wanted to take part in a run but he was born with Alagille syndrome, a condition which affects the liver and heart, ADHD and mild autism.

Taking part on Sunday alongside the Regency High School pupil was his mum Amanda Paxton, New Hope founder Jean Wilson and the charity's office manager Laura Hamilton.

Mrs Paxton, from Droitwich, said: "We never imagined we would raise so much money and when I set his fundraising page up I originally set it at about £50 though I knew we would get more than that.

"Eventually I raised it to £150 and I had no idea we would get more than that online and through a sponsorship form - it's been an amazing response.

"It was a brilliant day especially for children.

"Every time they were chucking the coloured powder Luca was in the midst of it.

"He was an inspiration and was so perky and kept us all motivated.

"We had to keep up with him but all the way around I kept thinking how amazing it was that he was doing it after everything he has been through."
