A WANTED man has been charged and remanded 'in record time' by officers from West Mercia Police.

Officers from West Mercia Police arrested John Rowberry in Droitwich this morning after an appeal was issued at the end of last month.

Rowberry has been charged with five counts of shoplifting and was expected to appear in Worcester Magistrates Court this afternoon (Thursday).

We have previously reported how the 35-year-old was wanted for questioning by West Mercia Police in relation to a number of offences related to thefts from shops and had issued an appeal to discover his whereabouts.

Police said in their original appeal that Rowberry had connections to Droitwich area but has also been known to frequent Worcester, Malvern, Bromsgrove, Redditch and Kidderminster.

South Worcestershire Integrated Offender Management team said on Twitter: "Team have located John Rowberry and arrested him this morning. Thanks to public for their assistance. Charged and remanded in record time."
