KEEN photographers who want to take pictures of the spring bluebell displays on the western slopes of the Malvern Hills are being urged not to trample the flowers in their haste to get the best shot.

The call comes from Malvern Hills Conservators, following the events of last year, when large areas of bluebells were flattened by people trying to get a close-up image.

The display of bluebells on the slopes off Jubilee Drive are well known as one of the best in the area and a popular tourist spot at this time of year.

Beck Baker of the Conservators said: "This time of year is great for taking photographs of the hills and spring flowers. Unfortunately, last year, people keen to get the perfect shot trampled large areas of bluebells which ruined the display for others. We ask that those wanting to take photographs remain on the paths and grass areas to preserve the flowers."

She also issued a reminder that picking the bluebells is illegal. She said: "If everyone takes care, then the bluebells will be something that everyone can enjoy."

If you would like to see more bluebells and spring flowers, the Conservators are holding a walk through Park Wood, West Malvern, on Sunday, May 17. Call 01684 892002 for more information and booking.
