ART, photography and poetry are coming to the centre of Malvern with the launch of a new "exhibition walk" in one of the town's most popular thoroughfares.

The cases have been installed along Church Walk and outside Waitrose, inspired by the success of Beacon Camera Club's exhibition there, which has been fascinating passers-by in recent months.

The showcases will give an opportunity for local artists and community groups to display their works. Anything from poetry to the results of a school painting competition could be on show, with each exhibit being shown for about four months.

The project has been developed by Great Malvern Association of Traders and Malvern Hills District Council with support from the Elmley Foundation and Pulse Great Malvern.

Chris Marks of Great Malvern Association of Traders said: “The previous photo exhibition has been hugely popular and the feedback we have received has been fantastic. As a thank-you to Beacon Camera Club, we wanted to offer the club use of the display cases for the first exhibition. We hope that this will inspire other local artistic and community groups to use the space to put on exhibitions.”

“We also hope that the exhibition walk will encourage people to explore our beautiful town centre with its great range of shops, cafes and restaurants”.

Simon Smith, economic development manager at MHDC said: “We’re delighted to support this scheme which will add yet another reason to come and enjoy all Great Malvern has to offer.”

Artistic and community groups interested in using the exhibition facility should email info@gmatuk.org to register their interest.
