FIRE fighters from Malvern were called out to extinguish two unattended bonfires close to the railway line in Malvern Wells.
The call to emergency services came at 8.49pm on Tuesday from someone who was walking on the Malvern Hills and saw the plumes of smoke.
A crew from the Malvern station was sent out and found the fires on land off Pickersleigh Close, formerly the site of the old Wells railway station.
The fires were unattended and the flames threatened nearby trees and hedges, so the crews used hose reels to extinguish them. The operation was finished by 9.46pm.
