MALVERN musician Peter Shepherd, a former organists at the Priory, has collected another accolade to add to his growing list.
Mr Shepherd, aged 20, has just passed the rigorous examination for Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists, and collected his FRCO certificate during an awards ceremony at Southwark Cathedral in London on March 14.
Mr Shepherd adds the FRCO to the Licentiate of the Royal School of Music (LRCM) for piano performance, which he passed with distinction earlier this year, and the Associate of the Royal College of Music (ARCO) certificate.
Mr Shepherd has lived in Malvern all his life, and started school at Malvern Parish Primary School. At seven, he became a chorister at Worcester Cathedral, and from the ages of about 15-18 played the organ at Malvern Priory as assistant organist.
He is now an organ scholar at Merton College, Oxford, reading music, and hoping to make music his career.
