A FLOWER planter has been installed in Malvern in memory of a councillor who died last year after collapsing at a council meeting.

Councillor Chris Cheesman, a member of Malvern Hills District Council since 2007, passed away on June 2 and the local authority planted the flowers in his honour.

The flower container, which will feature a plaque explaining its significance, is located outside the council chambers.

Councillor David Hughes, leader of Malvern Hills District Council, said: “I am so pleased that we have this fitting tribute of a planter and beautiful flowers in memory of Councillor Chris Cheeseman.

“It is appropriate to have them here outside the council chamber where he contributed so much of his work as a devoted councillor.

“Not only will they brighten up the area, they will serve as a constant reminder to us of our friend and colleague.”

Councillor Cheeseman was involved in Community Action, Malvern Hills area of outstanding natural beauty joint advisory committee, Malvern Hills Conservators and was former vice-chairman of the West Worcestershire Conservative Association.
