MALVERN Hills Lions Club are looking for keen ramblers who are ready to lace up their hiking boots and take part in this year;s bluebell sponsored walk in the Malvern Hills.

The date for the diary is Sunday, May 31, and as in previous years, walkers will once again be offered the choice of three distances to suit all abilities.,

The shortest route, of two-and-a-half miles, runs from the starting point at the British Camp car park to the Wyche Cutting, with free transport provided to take walkers back to the starting point.

The five-mile route runs from British Camp to the Wyche and back again, while the hardiest walkers can take the seven-mile route, from British Camp to the Worcestershire Beacon and back again.

Walkers can either donate all the money they raise in sponsorship to the Lions, or they can walk on behalf of a recognised charity and split the proceeds 50-50. This year, the Lions' chosen charities are Guide Dogs for the Blind and Community Action Malvern and Distinct.

Geoff Lewis of the Lions Club said: "The Lions care about the good causes they support, and every penny raised by the walkers will go to the good causes, with nothing at all being spent on administration.

"For more than 30 years, the walk has been one of our major fundraising events and we welcome anyone who wants to take part."

He said the club is always on the lookout for new members. "Why not join and help make a difference?" he said.

One major change this year is to the arrangements for parking and registration. Free parking will be provided at Mayalls Farm, just below Little Malvern Priory on the Welland Road. Free transport will be provided to take walkers the short distance to the walk start and finish point at the British Camp.

Walkers can register on the day at the farm between 9am and noon, or in advance by visiting e-clubhouse.org/sites/malvernhills/ or contacting MalvernHillsLions@gmail.com or 0845 833 7439.
