NEWS that emergency response policing teams have returned to Malvern's police station has been welcomed by Malvern Hills District Council.
The Malvern Gazette last week revealed that a policy implemented in 2013, which took the district's 999 response teams away from the Victoria Road station and based them at Ledbury, has now been reversed.
Cllr David Hughes, leader of the council and its representative on the West Mercia Police and Crime Panel, said: “I have worked hard to convince the commissioner that Malvern needs an increased police presence. I’m pleased to see that a local patrol base will now be at Malvern police station and I’m sure residents will welcome this move as well.
“I have also had several meetings with the commissioner to discuss the options to re-introduce a manned front desk operation in Malvern, which includes the possibility of offering a police signposting service through our hub service in the library.”
