MALVERN Hills Conservators are asking walkers to keep their eyes peeled for butterflies while they are out and about.

And the distinctive brimstone butterfly, one of the first to emerge each spring, is one of the first targets.

Conservators' warden Nicky Quinn said: "‘To see how the populations of butterflies are doing, we need to monitor them. We need your help acting as our eyes out there on the ground. Beginners are extremely welcome and it’s a great way to get started in butterfly spotting,"

Brimstone identification sheets can be downloaded from the Conservators' website at malvernhills.org.uk/news.

Anyone who spots one is urged to email their sighting to nicky@malvernhills.org.uk or tweet it @MHConservators, mentioning the date and location as accurately as possible. Photographs will also be welcome.
