SMOKERS are being urged to stamp out the habit for good starting from no smoking day on Wednesday, March 11.

The national day encourages people to give up smoking and has spurred the British Heart Foundation to advise smokers in Worcestershire to put myths aside and quit.

Councillor Marcus Hart, Worcestershire County Council's cabinet member for health and well-being, said: "No smoking day is a great opportunity for smokers in Worcestershire to quit, and this year over one million smokers across the UK are expected to quit on no smoking day.

"We have stop smoking services available across the county which will provide free one-to-one support, expert advice, and medicines that are available for the cost of a prescription to help you stop smoking for good. With the help of an NHS stop smoking advisor, you are four times more likely to quit."
