A COUPLE with a two-year-old son have claimed damp conditions in their flat are getting worse, despite complaining about the conditions more than three months ago.

Ashley Skyrme and Zoe Davies, of The Leys in Cradley, were featured in Your Worcester News last year complaining about their “appalling” living conditions.

But, after a number of visits from maintenance staff, they say the black mould is persisting and causing them health issues.

Fortis Living, which owns the social housing, however insists it is working to remedy problem.

Mr Skyrme said: “It is getting worse and the mould is just everywhere.

“It is contributing to our health conditions – my partner has asthma and my son has eczema.

“Opening windows and doors is just not helping.

“My family is finding it really upsetting and disappointing. We want to move somewhere else.”

A spokeswoman for Fortis Living said: “Our maintenance manager visited last year on Friday, October 31, and identified a damp patch on the internal bathroom wall to both hallways and on the living room wall at ceiling height.

“A job was raised for Fortis property care to check and remedy the leak and also to gain access to the above flat to investigate for any further leaks.

“Fortis property care visited on Tuesday, January 27, to remove the damp plaster from the wall and advised Mr Skyrme that they would leave the area to dry out before returning to re-plaster it. This work is scheduled for Monday, March 2.

“Our housing and maintenance teams are also in process of organising a follow-up visit with Mr Skyrme to pick up any outstanding issues he may have.”
