A WOMAN believed to be suffering a broken leg had to be cut free from a car after a crash on Sunday afternoon.

This picture shows the Ford Focus with its roof cut off by firefighters so the woman could be reached by paramedics and taken to hospital.

Five casualties were taken to either the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch or Kidderminster Minor Injuries Unit for further treatment.

Two cars crashed outside Willowbrook Garden Centre, Stourbridge Road, Bromsgrove at just before 4pm.

Two fire crews were sent and worked closely with West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police to free the woman using hydraulic cutting equipment.

Station commander Robert Allen, from HWFRS, said: "The crews worked closely with our colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service to release the driver of the Ford Focus by removing the roof from the vehicle.

"The female casualty, who is believed to be suffering from a broken leg, was then transported to hospital with the other passengers from her vehicle."
