HOMES and businesses in parts of Worcestershire have been experiencing power cuts this morning.

Western Power Distribution said it had reports of power cuts since 3am this morning in WR14 and WR8 area.

Just under 1,000 homes were initially without power in rural areas including Strensham, Brotheridge Green, Croome, Earls Croome, Kinnersley, Holly Green and Ryall.

Currently, there are just over 20 homes still without power in the villages and engineers will be putting a generator in place to restore their power.

Engineers now hope to have power restored to all homes by 2pm rather than their original estimation of 1.30pm.

A spokesman for Western Power Distribution said: "We are currently connecting generators so we can get the power back to the remaining homes.

"The vast majority had their power restored within the hour.

"The last few houses are having a generator put on so we can get power restored as quickly as possible.

"As soon as the power has been restored, we will switch our focus towards finding out the reason for the power cuts and rectifying the situation to ensure this doesn't happen again in future."
