AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a popular Worcester doctor who died after she fell into a ravine while walking in a ski resort.
Dr Eleanor Busher, aged 56, of Bransford, near Worcester, died in Montriond, France on January 25. An inquest was opened by the Worcestershire coroner today (Thursday). The medical cause of death was given as cerebral and pulmonary oedema and a closed head injury.
The circumstances of her death are listed as 'to be confirmed at inquest'.
As previously reported in the Worcester News, Dr Busher, who was known as Elly to her friends and family, had been a GP in Worcester for 30 years, working for the Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice and St Martin's Gate Surgery where she was a partner. She fell off a path while on holiday.
Her husband Guy said: “Elly was an experienced walker who loved the outdoors and was simply enjoying the end of a wonderful holiday with some of her dearest friends. Elly will be remembered by her family, friends and former colleagues as a wonderfully outgoing, sparkling personality who brought so much happiness to those who knew her. I would like to thank the French Mountain Rescue Service for their prompt and professional response.”
Many tributes from former patients were also left on the Worcester News Facebook page.
She leaves her husband Guy and their two children Rebecca and Tom.
