WORCESTER'S own marathon man is to to complete an epic charity feat for a city hospice in memory of his late father who received 'exceptional care' there before he died.

Luke Hamilton-Jones, originally of Bransford, near Worcester, a building surveyor at Malcolm Hollis’ Battersea office, hopes to complete182 running miles through three marathons and two ultra marathons in order to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester.

He aims to complete the challenge between April 3 and May 3.

Mr Hamilton-Jones will begin his gruelling fundraiser in Jordan in the Middle East by running to the lowest point on earth in the Dead Sea ultra marathon. The 23-year-old will then take part in the Worcester, Manchester and London marathons before finishing with the ultra marathon around the Malvern Hills.

He wanted to support the hospice because it provides free care and support to those suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in Worcestershire. This is a cause close to Luke’s heart following the death of his father to pancreatic cancer last year.

Mr Hamilton-Jones said: “The staff at St Richard’s Hospice helped me and my family through a very difficult time, and their unwavering support was incredible. Their exceptional care meant that my father could continue to enjoy life right up until his final weeks and for that, I cannot thank them enough. To say these events will be challenging is an understatement, but I cannot think of a more deserving cause.”

Mark Hampson, Partner at Malcolm Hollis’ London office, said: “This is an incredible feat and I know I certainly couldn’t do it. However, I have every faith that Luke will stand up to the challenge because of how much this cause means to him."
