POLICE are appealing for witnesses and information after a woman was sexually assaulted in Worcester city centre.

The assault took place yesterday at around 2.30am in Angel Place.

The victim, a 22-year-old woman, had left Tramps nightclub and was approached by a man near to the Crown Burger Bar.

He then grabbed hold of the victim and dragged her down the alleyway to the rear of Angel Chef where he sexually assaulted her.

The offender is described as Asian, in his mid 20s, with black scruffy hair which was longer at the sides. He was clean shaven with a scar above his upper lip.

He had a thin face and was of an athletic and muscular build. He was wearing blue jeans, brown boots and a dark coloured bomber jacket.

During the assault, the victim struggled against him – possibly scratching his face. The offender walked off in the direction of Shaw Street after the incident.

PC Gemma Birchley, the investigating officer, said: “We are taking this sexual assault very seriously. Crimes of this nature are not tolerated and we are eager to trace the man responsible for sexually assaulting a vulnerable young woman.
