CONTROVERSIAL plans to build homes on land belonging to the leader of Malvern Hills District Council failed to be resolved this week.

The application, for 21 homes on land at Clay Green Farm, Folly Road, Alfrick, was set to be discussed at a meeting on the northern area development control committee on Wednesday, with council officers recommending approval.

The application has been made by Greenlight Developments, but the land is owned by councillor David Hughes.

But at the start of the meeting cllr Paul Swinburn, the council's deputy leader, proposed that the plan is referred to the full planning committee, to be considered by members drawn from the whole area of the council, and members voted to agree.
