IT was Christmas party time at the December meeting.

President, Doreen Dyson, welcomed members, and several visitors who had come from neighbouring WIs.

At lunchtime that day members had heard that the entertainers for the evening were unable to attend because of illness. So at extremely short notice – a couple of hours – Mark Whittall-Williams of the Worcester Ukulele group stepped in and entertained members with a very lively solo musical performance, which set the scene for a fun and friendly evening. He was accompanied by sound engineer, Sam. They were both thanked. The music was followed by a lavish supper, which everyone enjoyed.

Members and visitors left for home with a gift from Santa’s sack.

The evening before several members had enjoyed the performance of Calamity Jane at Malvern Theatre.

The next meeting is on January 8, the second Thursday in the month instead of the usual first Thursday, since this falls within the New Year holiday. The main item for the evening is Discover History – Behind the Civil War. This is of particular interest because the civil war was a very big element in the lives of people living in our village. Members meet in Callow End Village Hall at 7.30pm. Visitors and new members are very welcome. The contact number is 01905 831655.
