A BRAVE young mother battling incurable cancer is hoping to take her six children to Disneyworld to create some family memories they can treasure forever.

Becci McCafferty, of Cropthorne, was 24 weeks pregnant with her youngest child Aurora, when she received the devastating news last November that her bowel cancer was terminal and she would not get to see her children grow up.

But the 30-year-old, who was diagnosed with the disease last summer when doctors were treating her for appendicitis, is determined to take her young family and husband, Luke, on a special holiday to create some memories they can all treasure.

Mrs McCafferty, a former Cropthone First School pupil, said the trip would mean the world to her children, aged between eight months and 12.

“It would be a lifetime of dreams. It will be something they can keep forever. It would be just incredible to give them something back.

“These last few months have been really hard for the children.

“They are remarkable children. For them just to have that two weeks in Florida Disneyland would just be amazing.”

Her family and friends are determined to send them on the trip, which would be the first time they have ever been abroad.

So far they have raised £6,500 but are hoping a final push to raise the last £1,000 will allow them to go away in September.

Mrs McCafferty’s cousin, Joanne Grant, of Eckington, is organising a sponsored 10-mile walk around the Malvern Hillson Sunday, June 8, with her sister, Alison Paul.

“It’s for the kids so they can have some amazing memories,” said Mrs Grant. ”

Mrs McCafferty, who is currently having chemotherapy, is overwhelmed by the support everyone has given her.

“I can’t put into words how amazing people have been,” she said. “For Jo and Alison to arrange this, it’s very humbling.”

The walk will start from North Quarry and finish in Holly Bush. Everyone is welcome. To donate visit gofundme.com/8ywfh0.
