Live final offers festival appearance prize

First published in News

THREE acts will be going head-to-head in a live final to secure a slot at a unique family festival.

Lakefest will bring a mix of music and watersports to its site at Croft Farm, near Worcester, from Friday to Sunday, August 8-10, and Maelor Hughes, Delicate Holly and Bad Cardigan will play for a place on the line-up after progressing in the Livewire competition.

Last month, 30 acts took part in the festival's online battle of the bands and the talented trio now get the chance to perform at the onsite Lakeside Cafe and Bar from 2pm on Sunday, May 4.

Maelor Hughes is a Lancashire based singer/songwriter who offers a taste of original modern songs with an older twist, while Gloucestershire-based four-piece Delicate Holly play indie rock influenced by the likes of Arctic Monkey and Kings of Leon.

Bad Cardigan is an acoustic duo from Lancashire who create a harmonious array of original music.

Each act will be given an hour slot and will perform in front of a panel of judges made up of rock 'n' roll tour manager Iain ‘Robbo’ Robertson, Erica lead singer Dalton Woodward and music-news.com representative Alexandria Butler.

The entertainment will be completed by sets from Erica and Wurzels tribute band, the Mangled Wurzels.

Entry is free.
