Councillors give backing for theatrical projects

SEVERAL drama projects will be delivered after a theatre company received generous support from a number of councillors.
Generous funding from the divisional funds of seven Worcestershire county councillors will see Vamos Theatre, which is based in the Worcester Arts Workshop, deliver projects in their particular wards over the coming year.
Cllrs John Smith, Matt Jenkins, Anthony Blagg and Paul Denham have backed Vamos Young People’s Theatre for their project, the Projectionist which is taking place this summer.
The young people are gathering oral histories from local people with the help of professionals from the Hive, and these will feed into an exhibition at the workshop in June and a full-mask performance in July.
Liz Tucker, Graham Vickery and Lucy Hodgson are supporting the full-mask group's professional tour to care homes, entitled Sharing Joy.
The show - part performance and part interaction, discussion, playfulness and laughter - uses music, dance, full mask, nostalgia, puppetry and general hilarity to encourage participants to share their own stories, and to celebrate life and all its joys.
Cllr Sheila Blagg has also pledged funding to support Vamos’s local community work in 2014.
