Peter Dyke, assistant organist of Hereford Cathedral, will be performing at Great Malvern Priory next Saturday, April 5, when his programme will include his own arrangement for organ of the last movement of Dvorak’s famous New World Symphony, which was recently broadcast by the BBC.
Such arrangements of orchestral works were common early in the 20th century when access to concerts was limited. They have recently become popular once again, giving audiences a different insight to orchestral works.
Peter Dyke has broadcast frequently and given recitals in Britain, Ireland, Europe and North America. His programme at Malvern also includes works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Mathias and Messiaen.
The recital starts at noon and there is a retiring collection. For more details, visit malvernprioryorgan.org.uk.
