Snow warning for Worcestershire

Malvern Gazette: Snow warning for Worcestershire Snow warning for Worcestershire

MOVE over rain, it's the snow's turn to cover Worcestershire.

A yellow warning for the white stuff has been issued by the Met Office from the early hours of Friday morning until lunch time.

A statement on the weather giant's website said rain falling on Thursday night would turn into snow.

It said: "Rain will turn to snow for a time, mainly over the high ground during Friday morning.

"Over low ground it is unlikely that any snow will accumulate but many areas may see falling snow and slushy deposits for a time."

But, forecaster Frank Hill, of Malvern, said the weather depended on where a depression in the mid-Atlantic landed.

He said: "This is not a straightforward situation because it depends on the movement of a small depression which is still in mid-Atlantic.

"Its centre is currently forecast to move across Bristol and London on Friday morning, but this is by no means certain.

"If the forecast track is correct, there is a risk of a short period of snow on Thursday night or Friday morning, though more likely to be confined to the higher ground of Worcestershire. Any snow on low ground should be slight."

He added that the weekend is likely to be quite cold with a frost on Friday and Saturday night.

The public is advised to be aware of the potential for some disruption to travel especially during Friday morning rush hour and to take extra care.

Further information on weather and advice on how to deal with it can be found at metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/links.html.

More of an affectionate pee take!!
I can hear his voice now, with his, 'clouds scudding across the sky', and his, 'spring bringing a new look to the countryside'.
