Supermarket told 'no' to banners

First published in News

A PLANNING application by Waitrose to erect stainless steel posts to carry advertising banners outside its Malvern store has been turned down by district council planners.

The supermarket wanted to erect the posts in the walkway linking the car park with Edith Walk.

But planners said the posts and banners would be a "substantial obstacle" in the walkway, which is a vital link between the car park and the town centre.

Double standards from the Council on this one.
(See other story on roundabout advertising)

It's ok to advertise on roundabouts via a third party council approved and licence contractor but not outside their own store.
No joined up thinking or policy on these two issues from Council again.

Best way is for Companies to park a van at any road junction or lay bye in Worcestershire and put their advertising on it and it can stay there as long as they want.

Just drive down from J7 to Powick and see the same vehicles in the same places day after day with their free advertising on them.
