THE March meeting began with business matters and included details of the annual council meeting.
The Joan Macpherson Trophy, donated to Colwall WI by Joan’s daughter in memory of her mother, was admired by members.
Guests were welcomed by president Cath Blackwell and after refreshments Elizabeth Smith was introduced to tell about her life in Zimbabwe.
In 1957 Elizabeth followed her husband to live in Salisbury, being slightly shocked when discovering it was Salisbury, Rhodesia!
Although the majority of us would have been on the next plane home, Elizabeth took to the life and during the years there brought up four children as well as teaching at missionaries.
The next meeting of Colwall WI will be on Monday in the Village Hall at 7pm for members and 7.30pm for visitors.
The speaker will be Dr Chris Flower on The Other Men in Darwin’s Life.
