I consulted my great grandmother’s cookery book. It is the Cassell’s Dictionary of Cookery and contains 1,000 recipes.
When I inherited it more than 30 years ago it was in a sorry state so I had it rebound. As the first and lastfew pages were lostI cannot give an exact date of publication but it must date to the last quarter of the 1800s.
Yes, there was a recipe for the Malvern pudding!
