during the traditional english droughts we re instructed not to water the garden nor to take regular baths nor to wash the car on the drive. The EA recommended building snowmen last week to create a slow release of meltwater to reduce flood risk. Would it help the current situation if every household filled its baths, washed the salt from its cars and watered the shooting snowdrops and daffodils?

I think we should all be saying a big thank you to Dave Throup of the Environment Agency. If his tweets are anything to go by, he hasn't had a day off since last October! He travels far and wide in the three counties to send us warnings and photographic evidence of flooding and snow. Well done Dave. I'm sure you'll get to eat your Christmas dinner soon!
