A FORMER Malvern police officer has been found guilty of disclosing information about his ex-partner's son's criminal record so he could gain an advantage in their relationship.
Graham Pryce-Jones, of Bosbury Road, Malvern, acted out of spite to show Pearl Rouse seven pages of details relating to her son Martin's offending.
Retired Pryce-Jones, aged 54, left the force in January last year. He said he did it to prove Martin had been banned from driving and prevent any further crimes being committed.
He begged on his knees, offered money, and sent text messages asking for the papers back or to be shredded, Worcester Magistrates Court heard this week. His relationship with Mrs Rouse ended in April last year.
He was found guilty on Wednesday of knowingly or recklessly disclosing personal data without the consent of the data controller contrary to section 55 of the Data Protection Act.
He was sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge and made to pay £1,340 costs.
