Brad Pitt has filled in for his wife Angelina Jolie at the Los Angeles premiere of Unbroken after she fell ill with chicken pox.
The Golden Globe-winning star brought the couple’s eldest children with him to the red carpet event at TCL Chinese Theatre – 13-year-old Maddox, 11-year-old Pax, and Shiloh, eight. He was also joined by his parents, mum Jane and dad Bill, who had flown in especially.
The family looked elegant in mostly black ensembles, with even daughter Shiloh opting to follow her brothers and don a suit with a collared white shirt and black tie.
Brad – who earlier attended the Unbroken Roger Deakins Image Exhibition on behalf of his wife – posed for photos with Olympians Angelina had invited including Lolo Jones, Nadia Comaneci, Bart Conner, Jessica Hardy, Dominik Meichtry and Jason Collins.
Angelina, who directed the war drama starring Jack O’Connell as Olympic medal-winning athlete-turned-prisoner of war Louis Zamperini, told fans she would have to miss the premiere because of illness in a clip posted to Facebook and YouTube on Universal Pictures’ official page.
Universal Pictures added: “We all wish Angelina a speedy recovery and look forward to her returning to her work very soon. She is in very good spirits, considering after two years of hard work, she will not be there the night it finally premieres.”
Other stars who attended the premiere included cast members Miyavi, Garrett Hedlund with girlfriend Kirsten Dunst, and Luke Treadaway.
