COFFEE and music specials at the Blue Bell pub, Callow End, are proving to be a fund-raising, sell-out success.

Fans of the Bromyard-based guitarist, Remi Harris, are set to be disappointed, because all the tickets for his forthcoming show at the Blue Bell, on March 10, have already been snapped up.

But other treats are in store for music fans, including a performance by singer Matthew Long, on Friday, June 23, from 11am.

The idea of the special shows was the brainwave of St John's man, John Reynolds, who is proud of the fact that since September 2014, the events have raised almost £3000 for various charities.

Some of the sessions feature recorded music and others feature live performances.

Mr Reynolds said: "The first one consisted of jazz, big band and vocal standards. Subsequently the fare on offer has added Fifties and Sixties pop, with some other musical gems included. Many of the items are rarely heard, so it's good to see the reaction when these are played.

"Thanks must go to the landlady of the Blue Bell, Sue Donohoe, who welcomed the idea and gave it every support."

Charities to benefit have included Acorns Children's Hospice; Cats Protection, The Stroke Association, Worcestershire Animal Rescue Centre and the Cleft Lip Association, among others.

On Friday, September 15, Barry North will perform on behalf of the Aspergers Syndrome charity.

And a Christmas Variety Show on Friday, December 15, will be for Cats Protection.
