AN air ambulance has been called to a high school near Worcester after a pupil injured their ankle during sports day.

Paramedics were called to Hanley Castle High School at around 2pm today after reports a 15 year old student was unconscious.

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Helimed 6 from Strensham went to the school along with an ambulance and a paramedic.

"It was a 15 year old who had suffered an ankle injury and the call suggested the pupil had twisted an ankle and collapsed unconscious.

"We are still there but the student is fully conscious."
