A PARTY of Syrian refugees who have settled in the West Midlands visited Malvern last week.
The refugees, who have been housed in Worcester and Coventry, were welcomed to the town by campaign groups Malvern Welcomes and Malvern Friends, who were instrumental in setting up the refugee resettlement project.
35 refugees, including six children and a new-born baby, met Malvern people, including Malvern Hills District Council chairman John Raine at the Friends Meeting House in Orchard Road.
Members of the visiting party taught their hosts a Syrian dance, and in return were taken for a walk on the Malvern Hills.
Organiser Ruth Forecast said.” They loved their day, and so did we. New friendships were forged. Malvern Welcomes is embracing those unable to return to their own war-torn homes and we look forward to seeing them again here soon.”
