11:03am Tuesday 6th May 2014 in News
POPULAR BBC sitcom Dad’s Army is set to provide audiences with a night of nostalgic comedy.
The classic show, centred around the Home Guard of the fictitious Walmington-on-Sea, is being brought to the stage at Droitwich’s Norbury Theatre.
Fans of the famous Second World War series, penned by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, will be treated to three hilarious episodes.
In The Deadly Attachment, the platoon find themselves having to guard a captured U-Boat captain and his crew.
Then, in Mum’s Army, the Home Guard are recruiting women, resulting in a brief encounter for Captain Mainwaring when newcomer Mrs Gray enlists.
Finally, in the Godiva Affair, the platoon rehearse their Morris Dancing routine as part of a fund-raising carnival parade, which includes a ride past by Lady Godiva.
All the characters and catchphrases are there, from the officious Mainwaring and Wilson to the equally comedic Jones, Frazer and Pike.
The production, directed by Mel Brown, runs at the Friar Street venue from Thursday to Saturday, May 8 -10 and again from Thursday to Saturday, May 15-17.
Performances start at 7.30pm and tickets are £10 (concessions £9).
