MARQUEE signing Melani Nanai will “take time to adjust” to the Gallagher Premiership according to Worcester Warriors chief Alan Solomons.

Nanai took Super Rugby by storm this summer with Blues before moving to Worcester in August.

The 26-year-old wing warmed up for the new league season with two appearances in the Premiership Cup.

Warriors lost both matches with Nanai in the side but Solomons believes the rangy runner is ready to compete in England’s top flight.

“In terms of fitness there is not really a problem with Melani,” Solomons said.

“Everybody has got to adjust to coming into a new competition and playing with different people which is going to be a slightly different style to what he was used to at the Blues.

“You have to take time to adjust and that’s all it is. But the more you play the easier it is to adjust.”

Nanai is now set to make his Premiership bow when Warriors launch their league campaign with a home clash against Leicester Tigers on Saturday (3pm).

“Melani is certainly a guy that comes under consideration,” said Solomons on selection for Tigers.

“He hadn’t played any rugby in four months since Super Rugby stopped, travelled across the northern hemisphere and played with players that he has never played with before so I think these two games have been invaluable for him.”
