WORCESTER Warriors could look for injury cover at loosehead prop after Ryan Bower was ruled out for the rest of the season.

Bower is set to undergo surgery to fix his Achilles that he “snapped” in Warriors’ 34-22 Premiership Cup defeat at Saracens last Sunday.

It leaves Callum Black and Ethan Waller to fight it out for the number one shirt while Gareth Milasinovich has experience at loosehead and academy prop Kai Owen has featured for the first-team this season.

But when asked whether he felt there were enough strength in depth in that position Solomons said he would need to “weigh things up”.

“We have got to look at our situation,” Solomons said. “It’s like what I said to you about the fly-half (situation). You have got to look at it, weigh things up and then make a decision.”

Bower has made eight appearances this term, with six of those coming in the Gallagher Premiership. The 27-year-old is now set for a long spell on the sidelines.

“His foot got stuck when we were going backwards in a scrum and (his Achilles) snapped,” Solomons explained.

“You won’t fix an Achilles in under six months.

“Justin Marshall got his fixed in six months. In those days it probably took nine months. Nowadays it maybe quicker but once the surgeon goes in there we will get a clearer vision.”
